Helen Moseley (CAFOD Diocesan Team, Birmingham): “I was at university attending a talk by a man called Norman Barnes about poverty in the world. He made sections of the room stand up to show the proportions of the world who were hungry, didn’t have clean water, didn’t attend school etc. I was staggered: I had had no idea up until that point that the proportion living in poverty was so high. I’m ashamed to admit my ignorance, but I thought aged 18, that most of the world lived like us. I travelled to Jamaica later that year to help build a school and to Africa 3 years later to see poverty for myself
….and it all started with that talk.”
As we mark our 50th anniversary at CAFOD, it is time to reflect. We are asking all staff, volunteers, supporters and other friends of CAFOD to look back over their lives and recall the moment when they were first drawn into the fight against poverty and injustice. http://www.cafod.org.uk/whatlityourflame
