Abigail is the diocesan manager for CAFOD Birmingham, and has travelled to Zimbabwe to see at first hand what life is like for people there, to bring them messages of solidarity from the Catholic community of England and Wales, and to see the impact of the work that CAFOD has enabled.
She says: “Everyone is so welcoming and there is an amazing atmosphere of hope. Every-one really believes the situation is turning around which is very hopeful at last after they have been through so much.
“At last there is food in the shops and the children and back at school, after they were closed down for nearly 12 months. They are the most resilient people.”
