JanetG works in CAFOD’s public policy unit, supporting partners involved in advocacy work, and working alongside them in the field collecting evidence to influence or challenge decision-makers.
Advocacy means changing policies and systems at an international, regional, national and local level so that they work in favour of the poor. It tackles the root causes of poverty, helping poor communities get their voices heard by those in power.
She says: “Through strong relationships with partners, CAFOD can nourish powerful processes of change across the globe.”

Dear Janet,
I am the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission convenor for the Cape Town Archdiocese, and currently on holiday in Bath,UK. I picked up a Cafod publication by Liz Gallagher entitled the Global Challenges and the Church’s Response and also read your blog on Mozambique threats to land tenure.
I am also chairman of the South African Constitutional Property Rights Foundation [SACPRIF] and in that capacity invite CAFOD to become charter members of SACPRIF. Our booklet A Creative Solution to Poverty and Unemployment summarises the radical but Catholic endorsed measures on how to resolve landlessness and joblessness by a change in the tax laws.
We look forward to engaging with you on this vital and elegant application of God’s laws .
Regards, Peter Meakin. Tel no in UK until 3rd of January 07538174024.
