Big Lent Walk 2025: Be inspired by Therese’s challenge

Looking for a way to challenge yourself this Lent? Take inspiration from Therese Wynn-Davies and her sister, who turned their Big Lent Walk into an unforgettable experience.
Last year, Therese took on the Big Lent Walk alongside her sister. Their challenge? Walking 200km while pushing their four children – all aged three and under – in double prams!
During their challenge, Therese shared:
“We have four children aged three and under between us! So there’s going to be some weight to push around as well as getting our steps in. We both live in Crawley, so we planned to meet halfway, visit coffee shops on my days off, and rope our husbands in at the weekends. We aimed to do 100km each during Lent—hopefully losing some baby weight and getting our babies some fresh air too!”

Now that the Big Lent Walk 2025 is fast approaching, we caught up with Therese to ask about her experience of walking last year. Despite the challenge, Therese describes how the experience was more rewarding than she ever imagined.
“Whilst it was a daunting number to try and achieve, we made it part of our schedule—double pram each, in all weathers! It was such a brilliant reason to get out of the house, get the kids into the fresh air, and we unexpectedly got to witness Spring coming to life as the challenge went on. Keeping our social media updated really helped—people donated, which in turn kept us motivated. We finished our final stretch on the seafront while visiting our parents over Lent. I treated my sister to a gin in the lovely sunshine, and it was brilliant to have such a sense of achievement, knowing we’d benefited other people’s lives across the world.”
For Therese and her sister, the Big Lent Walk was about more than just the physical challenge – it became a way to spend quality time together, encourage each other, and find joy in the small moments. The experience of seeing the seasons change, feeling the fresh air, and knowing they were making a difference gave their journey a deeper meaning.
By sharing their progress online, they inspired friends and family to donate, which in turn kept them going even on the tougher days. Their story is a perfect example of how the Big Lent Walk can bring people together, whether it’s through fundraising, shared experiences, or simply having a goal to work towards.
No matter your fitness level or lifestyle, the Big Lent Walk is an opportunity to step outside, challenge yourself and help our sisters and brothers. Whether you team up to take on 200km like Therese and her sister, or set your own goal, every step you take helps to build a better world for everyone.
So why not sign up today? Grab your walking shoes, set your challenge, and step into this Lent and Jubilee year with purpose.
