TeamCAFOD runners take on Rome and London

This spring, TeamCAFOD has been out in full force – pounding the pavements of both Rome and London to raise vital funds for communities around the world.
From the historic streets of the Italian capital to the vibrant landmarks of central London, our incredible runners have shown that every mile really can make a difference.
Running through Rome ✝️
A team of four incredible runners – James, Andrew, John, and Grant – took on the Rome Marathon, joining over 28,000 runners from around the world.
With St Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, and cheering crowds as their backdrop, the team braved the 26.2-mile challenge and raced through one of the world’s most iconic cities.
Running the marathon in Rome in 2025 made the experience even more meaningful, as this year marks the Jubilee Year for the Catholic church – a special time of pilgrimage, renewal, and hope. Their efforts reflected that spirit of compassion and global solidarity, putting their faith into action on a truly international stage.

James shared with us: “Despite the painful last few miles, it was a pleasure to run the Rome marathon in aid of CAFOD. The fundraising team were incredibly supportive and communicative through every step of the build up to the race and really helped me maximise my fundraising. A great charity to work with!”
We are incredibly grateful to our Rome team for taking on this challenge and flying the CAFOD flag!
Triumph at the London Landmarks Half 💥
Back in the UK, Josh and Max, both aged 17, laced up their running shoes for the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Taking on their first major race for CAFOD, they not only smashed the 13.1 miles – they also raised a fantastic amount of money to support CAFOD’s work.

“Training and fundraising for CAFOD was very enjoyable. The support from the team was great and led to a very well-organised and successful race day. We particularly enjoyed seeing the final amount we had raised for CAFOD as we know it will make a huge impact on many lives. We will definitely do this again.” – Josh
“Running for CAFOD was, selfishly, a great opportunity to achieve an amazing goal that I’d always had. But greater than that, the amount of money we raised for such an amazing cause was brilliant – and just to know that it’s going to do so much is a great reward in itself.” – Max
These two young fundraisers showed incredible determination and compassion – and we couldn’t be prouder to have them represent CAFOD.
