Easter Sunday reflection: We rejoice and are glad
Reflecting on the gospel from Easter Day, in the final Lent calendar reflection, Catherine from our Theology team reflects on the good news of Christ’s resurrection and how all things have been made new.
Based on the gospel for Easter Sunday, 21 April – John 20:1-9
“Till this moment they had failed to understand the teaching of the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.”
How confusing it must have been for the disciples when Mary Magdalene came back to them saying Jesus’ body had been moved from the tomb.
They must have wondered who had done such a thing and why.
But when they reached the tomb and saw the cloths lying on the ground they finally realised what Jesus had been trying to teach them all along.
They understood that he had risen. As it says in today’s psalm, “This day was made by the Lord; we rejoice and are glad.”
All things new
Let us give thanks to God for all that he has made. Let us rejoice that through the power of the resurrection, all things have been made new.
May this renewal inspire us to do what we can to bring about a change for the better in our lives and in our world.
As we celebrate Christ’s resurrection today, let us praise him for his glory.
Christ is risen. Alleluia!
