Silverstone Run Fest: Nuns and teachers running for CAFOD
This year’s annual Silverstone Run Fest will take place on 24 November. We are very excited to announce that we have an excellent representation from sisters of the Faithful Companion of Jesus running for CAFOD, alongside teachers from English Martyrs in Long Eaton.
One of the sisters, Mary Anne, shares why she decided to run in this year’s event, pointing out the educational value of CAFOD’s campaigning and how she will spend her training time enjoying nature:
“I have used resources written by CAFOD for many years in FCJ schools, parishes, youth groups and with FCJ sisters in our community prayer. I love the work that CAFOD is doing and am glad to do my little bit to help. In this time of the Season of Creation it seems right to be going outside to train for the 5K run among trees and near a river.”
On the other hand, sister Helen believes in the message of living simply, recognising the need of those who struggle and the impact of the environmental issues the world is facing today:
“I have been a supporter of CAFOD for many years. The work they do is invaluable from supporting our wider global community, to raising awareness of social injustices, highlighting environmental issues to helping school and parish communities to ‘live simply’! I am taking part in the Silverstone Run Fest in the hope that the money I raise will go some way to support the lives of others and help CAFOD continue their incredible work.”
The amazing sisters have been long-standing supporters of CAFOD, and have already participated in our fundraising events, like running the Christmas Fun Run in Liverpool.
You can also join the sisters and our TeamCAFOD for the Silverstone Run Fest! The event is suitable for all levels of ability, so you can choose your preferred pace and distance that will work for you best. There is no registration fee, and the fundraising target is between £100 and £200, why not take up a challenge and help the causes most important to you?
