5 ways to help you through Harvest

Hands holding seeds

We know that people are living through challenging times. But as people of faith, we have the power to do good even when times are tough. That’s why, this Harvest, we’ve organised wonderful ways to get involved with CAFOD’s work. Together with friends and family, you can make a massive positive difference to the lives of so many people around the world.

1. Join mass!

Join us for a special Mass celebrated by Fr Simon Asira Lipuku, Regional Superior of the Salesians of St John Bosco for East Africa.

In Kenya, Ethiopia and South Sudan, up to 20 million people are fighting for their very survival as they face a food crisis that could be worse than any we’ve ever lived through.

Together, we’ll hold in our prayers the people in East Africa, and throughout the world, who don’t have access to enough nutritious food through no fault of their own – as well as the 200 million children in the world whose lives are at risk from malnutrition.

Fr Simon will celebrate mass from the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Nairobi, Kenya.

2. Get clued up!

Did you know that as many as 811 million people around the world are facing extreme hunger right now?

Find out more key facts about the World Stay in the know.

3. Get creative!

This Harvest, with family and friends, at home or in your parish, it’s time to Make and Create something wonderful!

From your favourite food, crafts or other artistic endeavours, make and create something you can sell, find a way to sell it (at church, to friends and family or online), and raise money to help your sisters and brothers around the world!

4. Pray with us!

Join us in prayer this Harvest for all that do not have enough to eat, especially our sisters and brothers in East Africa.

We pray that God will prompt us to challenge inequality and reach out in love, so that all people may share in a just Harvest.

5. Join our national assembly!

There is enough food in the world for everyone, yet 1 in 3 people have gone hungry in the last year.

Join together with schools across England and Wales on 15 September at 9.30am to find out about Talaso in Kenya and how you can support our global family this Harvest!

If you’re unable to join live, the assembly will still be available to view on the link above after the 15 September.
